What Is a REALTOR®?

A REALTOR® is a licensed real estate professional and a member of a local association, California or other state association, and the National Association of REALTORS®. The National Association of REALTORS® currently comprises over 1,700 local and 54 state and territory associations, with individual membership at well over 700,000.

A REALTOR® has promised to honor an ethical code of conduct in addition to all applicable local, state, and federal laws, and to maintain and pursue a higher level of education and training.

A REALTOR® is committed to treating all parties in a transaction fairly and honestly.

A REALTOR® can be a broker, agent, appraiser, property manager, or other professional active in any aspect of the residential or commercial real estate industry.

A REALTOR® will bring not only the full weight of his or her skills, experience, and education to bear, but also the resources available through membership in NAR, such as access to the MLS.
